Favorite Place: Labuan Bajo
Labuan Bajo is a small fishing town located on the western tip of Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It serves as the gateway to the famous Komodo National Park, but what truly captured my heart was the incredible underwater world I discovered while snorkeling there. The moment I dipped my head beneath the surface, I was greeted by the clearest turquoise water I had ever seen. The visibility was so amazing that I could see schools of colorful fish swimming dozens of meters away. The vibrant coral reefs were teeming with marine life, from tiny clownfish darting in and out of anemones to graceful sea turtles gliding past me. Every snorkeling spot felt like entering a completely different aquarium, each with its own unique ecosystem and breathtaking scenery.
What makes Labuan Bajo so special to me isn't just the crystal-clear waters, but the entire experience of being there. The town itself has a laid-back, peaceful atmosphere that made me feel completely relaxed. After spending hours snorkeling and exploring the islands, I would return to shore and watch the most spectacular sunsets I've ever witnessed. The sky would transform into shades of orange, pink, and purple, reflecting perfectly on the calm waters. The local people were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to share stories about their hometown and recommend the best snorkeling spots. The fresh seafood at the local restaurants was absolutely delicious, and eating grilled fish while overlooking the harbor became one of my favorite evening routines.
